Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens are part of an area known as

the Theban Necropolis and lie on the opposite side of the Nile from the town of Luxor

Sixty-three tombs have been discovered in the Valley of the Kings - more almost

certainly still lie hidden beneath the ground

Many of the tombs are very deep and quite elaborate in construction

The hieroglyphs inside the tombs have been protected from

the weather over the millennia and are quite well preserved
