Beijing Cloisonné Factory
Cloisonné is an art form that involves the decoration of metalwork with layers of baked enamel. In these pictures, copper vessels are hand forged, then have thin copper strips soldered onto them on their edges, to form a design. The voids are filled with eight layers of enamels, each of which are kiln fired and hardened. The final step is polishing and the application of a gold plating in some areas. It's pretty stunning stuff and has been made by the Chinese for centuries.
